A good library will
never be too neat, or too dusty, because somebody will always be in it, taking
books off the shelves and staying up late reading them. ~Lemony Snicket
Welcome Back
Welcome to another school year! I hope everyone enjoyed their summer and read
a lot of books!!! You had many great
ones to choose from on your reading lists. I’m looking forward to another great library
year.
Kindergarten Students!!
Kindergarten students will start
attending library soon. A copy of the
“Library Rules” is posted on the school web site. Please print out a copy and review them with
your student. Sign the bottom portion
and return to school. I like to have all
returned before the students begin borrowing books. The students begin library by getting
acquainted with where “their” books are located on the shelves. We have a special spot for the younger
students. I also like to go over with
the students how to care for their library books (don’t share with the dog, or
eat spaghetti while reading…things like that).
The first couple of weeks will be very busy and exciting for the
kindergarten.
New Students
Welcome to
Book Donations
I would like to thank everyone who
donated books to the library last year. Your generous donations are appreciated
by all our students. I would like to
remind everyone that we accept gently used, age appropriate books. Please, do
not send in books that are old, damaged or dirty.
Reminder
Last year we had far too many students
not returning books on time.
Unfortunately many of these students borrowed books and did not return
them for months. Notices would go home, only to be
ignored. This year this type of behavior will not be tolerated. If a student does not return their book, a
note will go home after 4 weeks (same as in the past years). If the notice is not returned signed by a
parent the student will receive a detention.
If the book is not returned or replaced within another 4 weeks, library
privileges will be suspended. The
student will stay at the office during library until the book is returned or
replaced. If the student continues this type of behavior, the student will
loose the privilege of borrowing books from the school library. Students who do not return their books are
not being fair to other students who are waiting to borrow that book. So please be considerate of your fellow
classmates and return your books in a timely manner.
Have a wonderful beginning to a new school year,
Mrs. Conway
